While W.A.D. Edmondson blatantly abuses his power persecuting citizen activists and poultry farmers (with a willing media turning a blind eye) – the people of Oklahoma City don’t have to be reminded that there is only one daily newspaper, and it is quickly sliding into increasing irrelevance.

I’m not convinced that “old media” is dying and irrelevant. Yes, citizen journalists are gaining more influence but the vast majority blogs have incredibly low readership. If a site does uncover something, it usually take a big media outlet to cover it in order to put it on the public agenda.
The Oklahoman could be more aggressive. But the paper’s problems are not the symptoms of the broader media. I do give the paper credit for its investigation of the McMahan scandal.
Does the media have problems? Yes, but vast majority continue to receive their news from traditional media sources, not blogs like this one.
