Democrat Ron Marlett has announced that he will be running for the House seat currently held by OK State Rep. Sally Kern (R-OKC). Marlett, who currently works for Community Pathways Unlimited, explains on his new campaign website:
For many years I have considered running for House District 84, but Sally Kern’s comments and the threat of extremists from either the right or the left infringing on our personal freedoms set me into action. I believe in three basic principles, freedom equality and prosperity.
At a press conference last week, Marlett likened Kerns recent comments to those made by extremists, and said:
I’ve just been concerned for some time about the damage done by extremes. I abhor hatred. I abhor hatred of people, of groups. I think everyone is worthy of respect.

Thank you for running against intolerance. I wish I was in your district, so that I could vote for you. Good luck and may the people of your district realize hatred doesn’t work.
